Before you fly solo, we teach you how to take off and land safely and how to control the aircraft proficiently in the air. Once this is mastered, we'll teach you how to soar, using the sun 's energy to gain height and stay airborne for many hours.

We use dual control two-seater aircraft so with a qualified instructor you can enjoy the experience in absolute safety. Our winch tows the gliders to a height of 1,200 feet or more. If the conditions are suitable, they can then be flown for several hours across the countryside using rising air to maintain height.

Once you reach a certain level of proficiency, you'll be allowed to fly solo and convert to one of the club's single-seat aircraft. From then on there will be many goals to aim for. Gliding can be a hobby to be enjoyed on fine weekends, or a sport where your skills will be tested against other pilots.
